About
Born in southern Ohio, Donelle Lacy is an American fantasy illustrator and author. She received her BFA in Drawing from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio, and her MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Design in Georgia. She draws inspiration from all forms of media, including picture books, novels, films, and classical art. During her college years, she was an avid anime fan, gamer, and fantasy geek. Her interest in the art, customs, and legends of Europe and Asia inspired her own writing and illustration. Artists and illustrators who inspired her include Wendy Pini, Brian Froud, Arthur Rackham, and Brett Helquist.
Her coloring book Dangerous Sea: A Menacingly Nautical Graphic Coloring Book, published in 2018, contains sea creatures from various cultural myths. The style of the book reflects her appreciation for eastern manga and western comics.
Donelle works in Northern Kentucky as a freelance illustrator, 15 minute sketch artist, and owner of Light Aero Publishing LLC.
